Because this course is not right for everyone.
• If you already know absolutely everything there is to know about pointe then you probably don’t need this course.
• If you have perfect control of each of your individual toes, never lose your balance in class, and can do 32 perfect Fouettés (in both directions), then you probably shouldn’t buy it either.
However, if you are just starting out en pointe, get blisters, sore feet or wobble en pointe, or if you are a dance teacher who is keen to learn how best to help your students progress en pointe, then this is the course for you!
Even girls who have been en pointe for years and teachers who have danced in some of the top ballet companies in the world have been astounded at how much they have learnt about their own feet by working through this course. Many wished that it had been available when they were starting their career as it explains the reasons behind so many career ending injuries.
This course is absolutely unique in the way that it guides you step by step through assessing your own feet and helps you understand exactly why things happen in your feet the way they do.
It has four stages that assess the flexibility of your feet and ankles; the strength of all the little muscles in your feet; your turnout muscles; and your core strength and balance. Follow along in the manual as you listen to me explaining all of the details of each test and exercise!
This section includes tests and exercises to make sure that you can get your foot into the best position for pointe work. Some people will find this stage easy, others will find it harder. No matter where you start, the easy exercises and stretches will help you get a great looking pointe. This is obviously VERY important for getting onto pointe.
Here you learn all about the different muscles in your feet, and why it is important to get the right ones strong! Mastering the fine control of your toes helps prevent blisters on the toes, as well as overuse problems in the shins. This stage will transform how you work with your feet forever!
Getting onto pointe is not all about your feet! Find out how to find your true turnout muscles, and make them stronger, so that you don't start dancing in parallel once you are up en pointe!
Finding your balance off the barre, and strengthening you 'core muscles' is so important in keeping your body strong! A dancer can have fantastic feet, but unless she can hold it all together, she will not go very far!
You test yourself at the start of each of the 4 stages, and then learn a program of special exercises that really focus on waking up all of the important muscles. After doing all the exercises for two weeks, you can retest yourself, and if you can do them all fabulously, you can move onto the next stage.
A lot of girls (and their parents) are understandably scared of what pointe work will do to their feet, and are worried about it being painful. In the past, with badly fitting shoes and often poor strength in the feet, many dancers did get terrible pain and had problems with their feet.
But this is not the case anymore!
This fantastic program teaches you how to strengthen your feet and body in the shortest space of time. Now that pointe shoes are available in so many different fittings, if your feet are very strong, and the shoes fit well, it is quite possible to dance with little or no pain at all! If you start off knowing what to feel, and how to get the most out of your shoe, you can have a long and happy career dancing on your toes.
In the past, this kind of specific strength only came with years of training, and learning it all the hard way. Thanks to my years of experience in working with dancers and seeing what makes the fastest improvements, this program is now available for you to take advantage of! After years of working with dancers, personally and as a therapist, and constantly seeing the same problems en pointe, I simply had to find a way to teach girls how to get it right from the beginning.
